Deltapark Neeltje Jans, founded in 1986, puts marine animals next to the Delta Works storm surge barrier. The park keeps seals and sea lions, has an Ocean Expo, a water slide and a water playground, and runs a boat tour through the Oosterschelde National Park. For older children there are paid add-ons that go further: swimming with sharks, getting closer to the sea lions, and a guided tour of the storm surge barrier.
The park is open daily in its summer season, which runs until 1 November 2026, and on fewer days outside it. Lunch is at a self-service restaurant with hot and cold dishes, several vegetarian options and help with dietary requests; the snack corner only opens in good weather during the summer season.
The trade-off is that the park works with limited capacity, so a spontaneous visit is a gamble: only a limited number of tickets are sold at the desk on the day, and the park strongly advises buying a dated ticket online beforehand.
