The Senckenberg Museum is a natural history museum in Frankfurt. It opened to the public in 1907 in a building designed by Ludwig Neher. Almost every exhibition has marked tactile models you can touch, and in the Aha?! research workshop (Forschungswerkstatt) children and adults can do experiments themselves. The highlights tour for families is included in the admission price.
The museum says afternoons and Wednesday evenings are quieter, especially on weekdays outside the school holidays. You can buy tickets online or at the till. About 90 percent of the exhibition space can be reached with a wheelchair or walking aid, but because of lift problems, access can’t be guaranteed at the moment.
The trade-off is the workshop’s hours, which are shorter than the museum’s. It’s closed on Mondays and opens only in the afternoon on some weekdays, so if the workshop is the main reason for your trip, plan the day around it.
