Wrocław Zoological Garden dates from the 1860s and is a listed monument in Poland. It opens all year round, and every ticket includes the Afrykarium, where the Laguna bistro sits on the upper level of a ‘shipwreck’ overlooking the pools of African fur seals and African penguins. The bistro is open whenever the zoo is, so it is the lunch stop in any season; two other places to eat, Karczma Koala beside the okapi and river hog enclosure and Karczma u Lwa next to the Angolan lions, open only in the spring and summer season.
The thing to plan around is that a ticket is good for one entry only; annual passes are the exception. Once you walk out, the ticket is used, so settle lunch and breaks inside the zoo.
Children aged 3 to 7 inclusive qualify for a concession ticket, with their age confirmed by a parent or guardian, as do primary and secondary school students under 21 with a valid school ID.
For older teenagers, the zoo runs overnight stays in the Afrykarium on set dates between October and March. They are open only to adults and young people aged 16 and over, minors must be with an adult legal guardian, and places on each date are limited.
