Parque das Aves, founded in 1994, is a bird park a short trip from Foz do Iguaçu. The visit follows the park’s trail, which is paved all the way and accessible for people with limited mobility. Along it are rest points with benches, accessible toilets and baby-changing. Pushchairs can be used on the trail, and you can hire one at the shop by the entrance.
The day has fixed points. In the Viveiro das Araras you can watch the macaws and parrots being fed, and in the Viveiro Árvore da Vida the scarlet ibis, each at set times. It is easier to plan the route around those than the other way round.
Restaurante Sabores da Floresta serves full meals, snacks and sharing plates, including vegetarian and vegan options. For a closer look, the park offers an immersive guided tour, the Visita Guiada Pumuckl.
The catch for families from abroad: once a child is past the free age, most half-price categories (students, teachers, over-60s, ID Jovem) are for Brazilians only, so older children from other countries pay the full rate.
