OUR FAMILY ASSESSMENT

Family Intelligence

The Musée des Confluences is a science museum that opened in 2014, in a building by the architects Coop Himmelb(l)au. Its garden is open to everyone around the clock. The building, the main hall, the shop, both dining areas, the pools and the terrace on the fourth floor can all be visited without a ticket. The Émile-Guimet donors’ gallery is free too, but only at weekends and during school holidays.

The time printed on a ticket is the earliest time you can arrive, not a fixed slot. A ticket bought in advance also gets you into the priority queue, along with annual pass and Lyon City Card holders.

The catch comes on the busiest days. When crowds are very heavy, the museum may close its ticket desks and exhibition rooms before the usual closing time. Same-day tickets at the desk or by phone are only sold while places last.

The museum holds the Tourisme & Handicap label for hearing, mental and motor disabilities. Activities can be run in French Sign Language, in cued speech or with lip reading.
