The continent you plan years ahead
Antarctica is not a holiday and not somewhere you decide on in spring. Every visit is an expedition voyage booked far in advance, and most operators set a minimum age — usually eight, sometimes twelve. For the families who go, it becomes the trip every other one is measured against.
The crossing is the part nobody warns you about. Two days each way through the Drake Passage, rough enough that a child who has never been seasick will be. Operators who fly over it cost more and save four days at sea, and with children that is the trade-off worth thinking hardest about.
